Free State and Northern Cape to Host Public Hearings on Road Accident Benefit Scheme Bill
Parliament The Portfolio Committee on Transport will this week conduct public hearings on the Road Accident Benefit Scheme Bill in the Free State and Northern Cape Provinces.
Tomorrow (Tuesday), the committee will listen to the communities of Free State, before continuing to the Northern Cape on Wednesday, as part of an extensive countrywide public consultation process, which started two weeks ago.
The Road Accident Benefit Scheme Bill is intended to replace the Road Accident Fund Act and to improve the administration of benefits and payouts to accident victims. The Bill will also provide for a social security scheme for the victims of road accidents and establish the Road Accident Benefit Scheme Administrator to administer and implement the scheme.
