Blue Downs Cluster weekend successes
From Friday 2019-01-04 until Sunday 2019-01-06, Blue Downs Cluster conducted various operations and arrested a total of 120 suspects; of whom 45 were arrested for the possession of different drugs; 11 for possession of dangerous weapons and the rest for various crimes including rape and assault.
301 410 Millilitres of liquor was confiscated this weekend.
On Friday 04 January 2019, at approximately 14:40, whilst conducting patrols, Delft SAPS members noticed a suspicious looking individual who started running when he saw the police van. He was chased and caught inside a house in Blikkesdorp in Delft. The house was searched a plastic bag containing small packets of tik was found. Two suspects were arrested for possession of Tik.
On Friday 04 January 2019 at approximately 21:30 Kuilsrivier SAPS members arrested two suspects for dealing in drugs at a premises in Diana Street, Kalkfontein, Kuilsrivier. They were found with 36 packets of tik, 14 full mandrax tablets and four half mandrax.
Mfuleni SAPS members arrested a 38 year old female for possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of stolen property at Shukushukuma Squatter camp on Friday 2019-01-04 at approximately 19:00. Suspect was arrested whilst she was found with circulated stolen cellular telephone and firearm. Apparently the cellular telephone was robbed in December last year,where there was a house robbery in Mfuleni. The female will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate Court on Monday, 2019-01-07 on the mentioned charges.
On Friday 2019-01-04 at approximately 15:00 Members searched a house at a premises in Jason Road, Eureka Estate, Ravensmead and found one suspect with 54 half MX tablets, two whole tablets, two packet of Tik and six 9mm rounds. Suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and possession of ammunition.
In an unrelated matter in On Friday 2019-01-04 at about 22:30 members of Mitchells Plain police were busy with crime prevention patrols in Rockies street, Tafelsig. They noticed a suspicious blue VW Fox and decided to test the vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed stolen on a Mitchells Plain case reported in November 2018.Police arrested the four occupants aged: 34, 26 and 30. The suspects face a charge of possession of presumed stolen vehicle. They are expected to appear in court once charged.
On Saturday 2019-01-05 at about 19:00 members of Mitchells Plain SAPS were busy with crime prevention patrols in Arabian street, Rocklands, when they stopped and searched a suspicious looking male. While searching the person, members found 42 Mandrax tablets in his possession. Police arrested a 28 year old male. The suspect faces a charge of possession of drugs. He will appear in court once charged.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen KE Jula, commended the SA Police Service members, as well as reservists, for their input, dedication and commitment in ensuring that the perpetrators of crime are brought to justice.
