Minister of Police appoints new acting Head of IPID
The Police Minister Mr Bheki Cele has appointed the new Acting Head of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) Mr Victor Ofenste Senna, who currently holds the position of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of IPID. His appointment is with effect from 01 March 2019.
Mr Senna (40) was appointed as the CFO of IPID in February 2018, after serving as the Chief Director of Budget and Revenue at the Gauteng Department of Health for a period of two years; and prior to that having served as General Manager Finance at the South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) for a period of two years. Senna gained his much impeccable experience in his early managerial years while working as Director for Finance for the Department of Science and Technology for a period of eight years.
The New Acting Head of IPID currently holds qualifications in BCom Accounting and Masters in Public Administration respectfully.
The Minister of Police has appointed the Acting Head of IPID for a period of three months, and wishes him all of the best in his new role. All that is needed at this level of governance is wisdom and understanding in carrying the country’s fundamental mandate as directed by the constitution, Mr Senna must take priority in ensuring that the IPID remains independent and discharge its operational mandate accordingly without fear, favour or prejudice. said Minister Cele.
Police Minister Bheki Cele will be meeting with the senior management of IPID as well as Provincial Heads in the coming week and on Wednesday, 06 March 2019 meet with the Portfolio Committee of Police to introduce the new acting head to members of the committee.
