Department to handover a multimilion rand farm to smallholder farmers in Limpopo

The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development will on Friday 1st April 2022, handover prime agricultural land to two smallholder farmers who have successfully applied for land allocation through the Proactive Land Acquisition Strategy which is part of the Land Redistribution Programme.

The acquisition of the property described as Portions 0, 1 and 2 of the farm Noord Braband 114 KQ, is 2 399 hectares in extent, for the sum of R23 610 000, 00 (twenty-three million six hundred and ten thousand) will be allocated to smallholder producers as part of empowering emerging farmers to transition into commercial farming as part of efforts to create jobs, increase food security and decongestion of communal land.

The acquired cattle and crop farm is in the Thabazimbi Local Municipality in the Waterberg District of the Limpopo Province, it will be awarded to a young male and a woman farmer.
