Man appears in court for murder

NELSPRUIT – The Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has condemned an incident in which a man was stabbed to death whilst on the same breath applauded members of the police from Vosman for swiftly arresting the suspect thereby ensuring that justice is served for the family of the victim. The murder reportedly occurred on Sunday, 12 June 2022 at Ackerville.

According to information received, on Sunday, 12 June 2022, police were called to attend a scene whereby two men were reportedly engaged in a fight near a certain store in Ackerville.

Upon arrival at the scene, police were informed that, during an argument between two men, one of them drew a knife and allegedly stabbed the other in his upper body. The victim was then taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has since been identified as Mr Dumisani Mahlangu, aged 29.

A murder case was then opened and during the tour of the investigation, police obtained some information which led them to trace and arrest the suspect at Vosman on Monday, 13 June 2022.

A 21-year-old suspect, Mpho Malope was charged for murder and appeared today, 15 June 2022 at the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court. The docket was placed on roll though the matter was postponed to 22 June 2022 for a formal bail application whilst Malope was remanded in custody.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has made a clarion call to members of the public to refrain from resorting to violence whenever they come across challenges in life.
