Mayor of Tswelopele Municipality faces a series of theft cases and crimen injuria

The Mayor of Tswelopele Municipality appeared today in Hoopstad Magistrate Court and she was granted bail and case postponed till the 22 April 2022 for further investigation.

On the 02 February 2022 apparently the Mayor visited several shops of foreigners and alleged that they were selling expired groceries. It is alleged that she took from their shops items including Cosmetics, Vegetables, Groceries, Pampers, Petrol cleaners and Diesel cleaners. The items taken from the shops are estimated to be R60 000.

Five cases of Theft and Crimen Injuria were registered and the Mayor, Councillor Kenalemang Phukuntsi (51) was arrested on 08 April 2022 at Hoopstad and appeared in the Hoopstad Magistrate Court, and granted bail of R2000.
