Media Invitation: Police Ministry leads visits to Mpumalanga police stations as part of MINMEC programme

PRETORIA – The Police Ministry will on Thursday, 08 September 2022 lead a series of visits to police stations in the Mpumalanga province, as part of MINMEC program.

The Ministers and Members of Executive Council (MINMEC) meeting is scheduled to take place in Mpumalanga until Friday.

The two-day meeting starting on Thursday, 08 September 2022, will see the Police Ministry, members of the Executive Council (MEC) Head of Departments (HOD) for Community Safety and Liaison and Provincial Commissioners from all nine provinces, join the senior management of the SAPS, to visit some of the stations identified as the biggest contributors of contact crimes in the area.

The aim of these visits is for the MINMEC delegation to have a first-hand experience of some of the dynamics within the policing precinct that impact on service delivery; at the same time formulate immediate and long term interventions, as part of bolstering accountability at the country’s police stations.

The delegations will visit the following police stations on the 08 September 2022.

Barberton

Bushbuckridge

Calcutta

Kabokweni

Kanyamazane

Komatipoort

Masoyi

Nelspruit

Pienaar

Members of the media are invited to cover the visits, which will kick-off at 11:00 on Thursday morning.
