Minister Blade Nzimande launches Automotive Training and Re-Skilling for Vulnerable Youth and Women, 13 May

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, invites members of the media to the project launch of the Automotive Training and Re-Skilling in the Post-COVID Economic Recovery for Vulnerable Youth and Women in South Africa. The project is funded by the Government of Japan.

The project commenced in March 2021 and has been making great strides in the economic empowerment of vulnerable youth and women through provision of skills relevant to the automotive industry.

The project delivered capacity development for TVET colleges, specifically Coastal KZN TVET College, Northlink College, and Tshwane South TVET College, to align with the post-COVID-19 economy and labour market needs.

The project also strengthened connection of TVET college students and graduates with private sector employment opportunities, particularly with automotive companies of South Africa, including Japanese companies.

Members of the media are invited to join the Minister Nzimande, His Excellency Mr. Norio Maruyama, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of South Africa; Dr. Ayodele Odusola, Resident Representative of the UNDP South Africa; and the KwaZulu Natal government provincial leadership and the eThekwini Municipality leadership.
