Minister Zizi Kodwa launches Young Creatives Programme in Kopanong, 6 Jul

The National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), Minister Zizi Kodwa invites members of the media to the launch of The Young Creatives Programme at Kopanong Hotel and Conferences, Ekurhuleni Metro in Gauteng.

Hosted in collaboration with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), the programme seeks to create and foster a cadre of patriotic young people within the creative industry – disciplined, responsible, caring, confident, self-reliant who are culturally aware and involved in voluntary projects that contribute to individual, community and national development through our Community Arts Centres.

The Young Creatives Programme is a youth-focused programme of the department that aims to mainstream youth development in arts, culture, and heritage, towards socio-economic opportunities, supporting their creative endeavours and encouraging civic participation. Subsequently, this programme will provide access to opportunities and focus on out-of-school youth, who are actively involved in the Creative and Cultural Industries’ sector by equipping them with the necessary skills and exposure to build sustainable careers and businesses.

Accompanied by the NYDA, CEO, Mr Wassim Carrim, Minister Kodwa will unpack the strategic objectives, and outline a detailed approach to the implementation of the Young Creatives Programme
