Police launch manhunt for killers of traditional healer of Gumbu Village

POLOKWANE – The Police at Masisi in the Vhembe District have launched a manhunt for the suspect(s) after the local Headman, Takalani Andries Gumbu of Gumbu village was gunned down in front of his house last night on Sunday, 12 February 2023.

The victim (40) reportedly arrived home at about 22:00 on Sunday evening and soon after getting out of his motor vehicle, he was shot and killed by unknown suspect(s) who fled the scene on foot soon after the incident.

The Police were called and on arrival, the victim was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds. He was certified dead on the scene.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered that a team of investigators comprising members of the Provincial murder and robbery unit visit the scene and immediately assist in the unfolding investigations.

“The suspects must be hunted down and brought to book. We call on community members with information to come forward,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage and police investigations are continuing.
