Rape accused, who attempted to pay off family, sentenced

DURBAN – A 27-year-old relative appeared in the Ulundi Regional Court and was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment for rape. The accused appeared in court on 14 March 2022 for a rape incident which took place on 2 September 2017 at Ngilazi Reserve in Mahlabathini where a 31-year-old mentally disabled relative was raped.

A case of rape was opened at Mahlabathini police station and the docket was transferred to Ulundi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for further investigation.
