Two nabbed for stock theft in Cookhouse

COOKHOUSE – SAPS Cookhouse in conjunction with Cradock Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit arrested two men in possession of 16 stolen goats valued around R29 000-00 traveling on the N10 near Cookhouse yesterday.
On Saturday afternoon, 29 October 2022 at around 14:00, members stopped a white Ford Ranger bakkie with two occupants on the N10, a few kilometres outside Cookhouse. At the back of a bakkie there were 16 goats.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the goats were stolen from a local farm, and the two men were arrested. A bakke that was used in transporting the stock was also seized for further investigation. The two suspects aged 20 and 29 years old are due to appear in the Somerset magistrate’s court on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
