{"id":31340,"date":"2021-07-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timessouthafrica.com\/?guid=8b59eeb6ae5eb34f06f304861a38bc1f"},"modified":"2021-07-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T00:00:00","slug":"three-arrested-for-unlawful-possession-of-firearms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timessouthafrica.com\/three-arrested-for-unlawful-possession-of-firearms\/","title":{"rendered":"Three arrested for unlawful possession of firearms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>Three suspects have appeared before the Verulam Magistrate&#8217;s Court today for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, in contravention of the Disaster Management Act.<\/P><P>The suspects were arrested this morning in Phoenix when police officers were conducting patrols and spotted a vehicle with three male occupants, parked outside a tavern.<\/P><P>The vehicle was searched and police found three firearms with ammunition.<\/P><P>Police said that a 27-year-old suspect was found in possession of a licensed firearm with 31 rounds of ammunition.<\/P><P>\u201cThe suspect was charged in terms of the Disaster Management Act, while his firearm was seized for further investigation,\u201d the South African Police Service (SAPS) said in a statement.<\/P><P>The remaining two suspects, aged 23 and 26, were found in possession of a revolver and a pistol with 23 rounds of ammunition.<\/P><P>Police said the recovered firearms would be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used previously in serious offences in the country.<\/P><P><\/P><P>Source: South African Government News Agency<\/P><P><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three suspects have appeared before the Verulam Magistrate&#8217;s Court today for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, in contravention of the Disaster Management Act.The suspects were arrested this morning in Phoenix when police officers wer&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.6 -
