The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, invites members of the media to the project launch of the Automotive Training and Re-Skilling in the Post-COVID Economic Recovery for Vulnerable Youth and Women in South Africa. The project is funded by the Government of Japan.<\/p>\n
The project commenced in March 2021 and has been making great strides in the economic empowerment of vulnerable youth and women through provision of skills relevant to the automotive industry. <\/p>\n
The project delivered capacity development for TVET colleges, specifically Coastal KZN TVET College, Northlink College, and Tshwane South TVET College, to align with the post-COVID-19 economy and labour market needs. <\/p>\n
The project also strengthened connection of TVET college students and graduates with private sector employment opportunities, particularly with automotive companies of South Africa, including Japanese companies.<\/p>\n
Members of the media are invited to join the Minister Nzimande, His Excellency Mr. Norio Maruyama, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of South Africa; Dr. Ayodele Odusola, Resident Representative of the UNDP South Africa; and the KwaZulu Natal government provincial leadership and the eThekwini Municipality leadership.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
