{"id":42715,"date":"2022-06-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/timessouthafrica.com\/?guid=1b73b8b95e0b70097581b491c651f367"},"modified":"2022-06-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-06-30T00:00:00","slug":"president-cyril-ramaphosa-arrives-in-botswana-for-the-7th-sace-summit-of-heads-of-state-and-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timessouthafrica.com\/president-cyril-ramaphosa-arrives-in-botswana-for-the-7th-sace-summit-of-heads-of-state-and-government\/","title":{"rendered":"President Cyril Ramaphosa arrives in Botswana for the 7th SACE Summit of Heads of State and Government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>President Ramaphosa arrives in Botswana for the 7th SACE Summit of Heads of State and Government<\/P><P>President Cyril Ramaphosa has, today, Thursday, 30 June 2022, arrived in the Republic of Botswana on a Working Visit to attend the 7th Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Summit of Heads of State and Government.<\/P><P>The Summit will be held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre and will be attended by Heads of State and Government and representatives of SACU Member States.<\/P><P>Member States include the Republic of Botswana as the summit host and the current chair of the Union; the Kingdom of Eswatini; the Kingdom of Lesotho; the Republic of Namibia; and the Republic of South Africa. <\/P><P>SACU is the oldest Customs Union in the world and its Summit is held annually to discuss progress on the implementation of it\u2019s agreed upon Work Programme. <\/P><P>The Summit will consider progress made on the implementation of the refocused Work Programme whose priorities include: <\/P><P>\u2022\tIndustrialisation through the development of regional value chains, investment attraction and export promotion; <\/P><P>\u2022\tRegional Financing Mechanism; <\/P><P>\u2022\tTrade Facilitation and Logistics; and <\/P><P>\u2022\tImplementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). <\/P><P> <\/P><P>The Summit will further consider the five-year SACU Strategic Plan as approved by the Council of Ministers on the 2nd June 2022. <\/P><P>The Summit is preceded by the meetings of its institutions namely<\/P><P>\u2022\t64th Meeting of the Finance and Audit Committee: 22 June 2022; <\/P><P>\u2022\t68th Meeting of the SACU Commission: 23-24 June 2022; and <\/P><P>\u2022\t47th Meeting of the SACU Council of Ministers: 28-29 June 2022. <\/P><P> <\/P><P>President Ramaphosa is accompanied by Minister Ebrahim Patel of Trade and Industry and Deputy Ministers David Masondo of Finance and the South African Revenue Service Commissioner Edward Kieswetter.<\/P><P><\/P><P><\/P><P><\/P><P>Source: Government of South Africa<\/P><P><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Ramaphosa arrives in Botswana for the 7th SACE Summit of Heads of State and GovernmentPresident Cyril Ramaphosa has, today, Thursday, 30 June 2022, arrived in the Republic of Botswana on a Working Visit to attend the 7th Southern African Cust&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[36],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.6 -
