WESTERN CAPE – Western Cape police through concerted efforts have in various targeted operations confiscated drugs, recovered stolen items and arrested 26 undocumented persons since Monday, 05 September 2022 until this morning, 08 September 2022, in the Garden Route District.<\/p>\n
On Monday, 05 September 2022 at about 17:20, the Rural Flying Squad responded to information about illicit drugs when they deployed themselves strategically along the N9 near the turnoff to Oudtshoorn. The vigilant members later stopped a minibus taxi and proceeded with a search of the vehicle and found 150 mandrax tablets in possession of a passenger on board. They subsequently arrested the 37-year-old suspect for the possession of drugs and confiscated the drugs with an estimated street value of R12 000.<\/p>\n
In Dysselsdorp, Attaqua K9 and Dysselsdorp members embarked on an intelligence driven operation on Tuesday, 06 September 2022 when they spotted two vehicles, a Honda Ballade and Ford Bantam, on the N12 traveling towards Oudtshoorn. While noticing police approaching, the vehicles sped-off, however police deployed along the route stopped the vehicles. A search of theFord Bantam, police found R12 000 and ostrich feathers stashed inside. Police confiscated the items.<\/p>\n
Investigation took the team, armed with a search and seizure warrant, to the residence of the man at Dysselsdorp outside Oudtshoorn where a search ensued. The search led to the confiscation of two sealed packs of dagga. They also seized a flood light, two cameras, a small scale as well as a Wi-Fi Router, all believed to be stolen goods at the premises. The cash found in his vehicle, believed to be proceeds of illicit activities, was also seized.<\/p>\n
Police arrested the 38-year-old suspect on charges of possession of drugs and possession of suspected stolen property.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, members attached to the George Public Order Police and Kwanokuthula Crime Prevention Unit arrested 26 undocumented persons during various operations launch in Plettenberg Bay on Tuesday, 06 September 2022.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, roadblocks and vehicle check points conducted in conjunction with provincial traffic officials along the N2 highway between Sedgefield and George as well as the N12 at Oudtshoorn resulted in the arrest of two suspects, 31 and 43, for drug related offences. Police confiscated 27 tik straws during these arrests. Other than this, 16 fines were issued valued at R22 700 for traffic related offences. These integrated operations, roadblocks and vcp\u2019s, forms part of concerted efforts to curb the trafficking of illicit goods, drugs and firearms along the highways of this region. <\/p>\n
Those arrested will all appear in the respective courts once charged.<\/p>\n
Western Cape police management had nothing but praise for the efforts of these forces to safeguard communities. Similar operations will be conducted during the upcoming weekend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
