{"id":45848,"date":"2022-11-22T11:48:56","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T11:48:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timessouthafrica.com\/?p=45848"},"modified":"2022-11-23T11:50:27","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T11:50:27","slug":"police-investigate-shooting-incident-at-saps-training-academy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timessouthafrica.com\/police-investigate-shooting-incident-at-saps-training-academy\/","title":{"rendered":"Police investigate shooting incident at SAPS training academy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) General Fannie Masemola has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a police trainee at the SAPS Tactical Thabazimbi Academy on Sunday, 20 November 2022.<br \/>\nWhile an internal investigation is underway, the matter has been referred to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).<br \/>\nPsychologists, Social Workers and Chaplains from the Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) component are currently providing psychosocial support to the family of the deceased and all affected.<br \/>\nGeneral Masemola has pledged the organization&#8217;s full cooperation and support to the IPID investigation.<br \/>\n&#8220;This is an unfortunate incident, we request space to conduct a thorough investigation to be able to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
