NORTHERN CAPE – Police in the Northern Cape welcomed the 18 year rape sentence that was handed down to Kagisho Whity Mokwena on 01 February 2023.<\/P>
<\/P>
On 28 August 2017 at 16:00 in Maseohatshe Village in Bothithong the 15-year-old female victim and her friend were on their way home from school.<\/P>
<\/P>
The accused chased after them, caught the victim and forcefully raped her in the veld.<\/P>
<\/P>
The friend ran home to alert the mother of the victim and seek help. The accused was arrested the following day.<\/P>
<\/P>
On Wednesday, 01 February 2023, the accused, was sentenced in the Mothibistad Regional Court to 18 years direct imprisonment.<\/P>
<\/P>
The Acting Provincial Head for Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit, Col Sipho Kheswa applauded Sergeant Keitshwaretswe Precious Schoeman for her meticulous investigation and dedication which culminated in the incarceration of the perpetrator.<\/P>
