RIADE, Ar\u00e1bia Saudita, Feb. 07, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Em um grande avan\u00e7o cient\u00edfico, uma equipe de pesquisa do King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC), em colabora\u00e7\u00e3o com o King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), e em conjunto com pesquisadores do Reino Unido, dos EUA e da \u00cdndia, descobriu um gene vital fundamental para o combate \u00e0 mal\u00e1ria. Este gene, denominado PfAP2-MRP, \u00e9 essencial no processo de replica\u00e7\u00e3o de Plasmodium falciparum, o parasita que causa a cepa mais letal da mal\u00e1ria.<\/p>\n

T\u00e9cnicas laboratoriais avan\u00e7adas permitiram que os pesquisadores inibissem o gene PfAP2-MRP, revelando seu papel essencial no ciclo de vida do parasita da mal\u00e1ria nos gl\u00f3bulos vermelhos. Essa inibi\u00e7\u00e3o interrompe significativamente a capacidade do parasita de se reproduzir, reduzindo a gravidade dos sintomas da doen\u00e7a e restringindo sua dissemina\u00e7\u00e3o.
